Ten park areas along the Harpeth River, including four canoe access points, make up the Harpeth River State Park. Each area has its own facilities, such as picnic tables, water access and hiking trails, although availability varies by location. It is possible to canoe down the Class II river, or fish along its banks, and there are a number of scenic hikes and quiet picnic areas scattered amongst the various park areas. There are multiple points of access to the river in Cheatham County, largely reachable off the highway west of Nashville.
